Super Sonic Shorties is a collective of like-minded, experienced, accomplished musicians who just happen to be women—led by the fearless Nikki Glaspie! Nikki has traveled the world over with artists like Beyoncé, Maceo Parker, Snarky Puppy, Yemen Blues, Dumpstaphunk, her own bands The Nth Power (which is also on our bill this year), KAMANI, Mike Dillon & Punkadelick, Trouble No More, and her 15-piece funk big band Nikki Glaspie & The Homies.

Super Sonic Shorties features a rotating cast of incredible, musical ladies. Confirmed lineup for Flood City is as follows, including some of their affiliations (past and present): Nikki Glaspie (drums/vocals; Dumpstaphunk, Nth Power, Beyonce), Amy Bellamy (keys; A-Beez, Club D’Elf), Angie Swan (guitar; Fifth Harmony, David Byrne, CeeLo Green, Will.i.am), Tonya Sweets (bass; Lizzo), Natalie Cressman (trombone/vocals; Trey Anastasio Band), Jennifer Hartswick (trumpet/vocals; Trey Anastasio Band), Jessica Lurie (woodwinds; Jessica Lurie Ensemble), Kanika Moore (vocals; Tauk Moore, Doom Flamingo), and Shira Elias (vocals; Turkuaz, Cool Cool Cool).

Some of the members have played our stages before — Nikki Glaspie with Dumpstaphunk (2014); Kanika Moore with Doom Flamingo (2022); Shira Elias with Cool Cool Cool and Remain in Light (2024), Turkuaz (2014, 2013); and Jennifer Hartswick (artist at large, 2025).

Super Sonic Shorties have toured and/or have recording credits with many artists, including Prince, Beyonce, Jay-Z, Lizzo, Herbie Hancock, Bruno Mars, Klymaxxx, JLo, Phish, Stephanie Mills, George Michael, Kanye West, Milton Nascimento, Cyndi Lauper, Maceo Parker, Snarky Puppy, Nicholas Payton, Stephen Marley, The Neville Brothers, Eric Benet and Erykah Badu.
