THURSDAY NIGHT: Noodly, Nester, & Gator
The festival is proud to welcome this act for Night Zero on Thursday, July 25 at Peoples Natural Gas Park! This free fest pre-party will take place in the Community Foundation Oilhouse. Gates at 7:00, with the 2-hour show beginning at 8:00 pm.
Noodly, Nester, & Gator (NNG) is a jazz-funk-fusion trio conjured from the collective minds of three artists already well-rooted in the live music world: Natalie “Noodly” Brooke (keys/synths), Jacob “Nester” Nadeau (bass), and Alex “Gator” Petropulos (drums). Noodly is well known for her percussive style of keys playing and god-tier synth shredding. Nester slaps the bass in a disgustingly thrilling manner and annihilates each groove like it’s the final boss. Gator simply unleashes every single chop that he has on the drum kit during NNG sets and it is a sight to be seen, a set to be heard.
NNG likes to play deep cut jazz tunes from artists like Herbie Hancock and Niacin as well as covers from more modern bands like Soulive and Thundercat. They tend to enjoy playing songs too fast and going off on improvisational tangents that show no sign of returning to home, until they do. The trio arrives at showtime in their black turtle necks and extremely tiny black sunglasses. They appear as though they are old jazz-heads who take the music very seriously, but their intention is the opposite – it is a time for unleashing of ideas, solos, improv, and fun.
Each member brings a distinct sound shaped by years of solo practice and years on the road in their respective projects. In NNG, they tap into something raw and exploratory. It’s a no-rules space where chops meet chaos. Noodly, Nester, & Gator never plays the same show twice, so don’t make the mistake of missing the rare occurrence of one of these sets.
